Starting Era #8: Reassembled

Meanwhile, back in the "normal" X-Men continuity.... :)

Era #8 runs from October 1996 through March 1999. I completed my second tour in Augsburg, Germany, and I selected a joint duty assignment at Naval Security Group Activity Northwest in Chesapeake, Virginia. I worked my way from the operations floor to running the management center (or "day shop").

Samantha and I continued to look for as much stability as we could get on an E-5 paycheck. We found a small two-bedroom place at Waterfront Apartments in Virginia Beach, and Samantha started working at the 7-11 across the street. The girls were still very young, but Tori began here education at Christopher Farms Elementary School.

I was unable to find a favorite comic shop. I bounced around from Trilogy Comics to Comic Kings and eventually Fantasy Escapes. I spent a lot of time learning how to create, manipulate, and manage relational databases. This helped me a lot with my job and with my growing hobby of organizing my growing comic collection. It was from here that I attended my first actual comic convention: Heroes Convention (HeroesCon) in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The X-Men stories saw a big transition in this era. Scott Lobdell and Fabian Nicieza leave. They are replaced with Steven Seagle and Joe Kelly.
