Era #6, Part 13: X-Men Unlimited #1-2

Grade: C+

There weren't enough X-Titles: Uncanny X-Men, New Mutants (turned X-Force), X-Factor, X-Men, Wolverine and Excalibur. A new bimonthly anthology title was launched called X-Men Unlimited. It provided some insight into the main storylines, but in reality, it was noticeable unremarkable. Different writers and artist got the opportunity to tell some tales about our favorite characters, but in the end, I am not sure anybody really noticed. In this short run, we get the details on Sienna Blaze's attack on the X-Men (mentioned in X-Force #22) and a glimpse into Magneto's impact on a soldier.

[3-Stars] 1 - "Follow the Leader" Cyclops, Storm, and Professor X find themselves stranded in the frozen white tundra of Antarctica. On their way back from the Savage Land celebrating the birth of Ka-Zar and Shanna's newborn, their aircraft was destroyed by a powerful blast from an unknown mutant. They must protect themselves from the elements made worse by the environmental after-effect of the mutant attack. Sienna Blaze makes her first appearance in an attempt to join Upstarts by taking out the X-Men leadership.

[3-Stars] 2 - "Point Blank" Adrian Eiskalt has a score to settle with Magneto. He was an East German soldier with an obsession of getting revenge for the death of his brother at the hands of the Master of Magnetism. He joins an international strike-force responsible for creating a stealth suit that makes him invisible to Magneto in order to exact his revenge. Meanwhile, Exodus offers a place in Avalon to only one member of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants -- Phantazia. The rest were unworthy (Toad and Blob) or unclean (Pyro).
